Background

DuoRhythmo is created by a group of six MSc Medialogy students affiliated with the Multisensory Experience Lab at Aalborg University Copenhagen.

Originally DuoRhythmo was a bachelor thesis project in the spring of 2021 with the Enable Group from Microsoft Research and the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations researching how novel interaction methods, such as eye-tracking and head-mouse, combined with an accessible UI could facilitate the experience of musical co-creation for people with ALS/MND (PALS). DuoRhythmo was picked as one of three final contestants at the research pitch competition as part of the Danish Sound Day Nov 2021.

During our research we got feedback from a range of experts within the field and presented our prototype multiple times for feedback to the ALS/MND AssociationsInnovation and Technology Council (ITAC). Having a total of 13 external stakeholders from the international ALS/MND community was of tremendous help and gave us valuable perspectives from all over the world.

We have tried to embrace the concept of participatory design and have the end-user as part of the early-stage decision making of our design process. Therefore we would very much like to get feedback on our prototype. We believe this will allow for the creation of a more user-friendly product and with the insights gained from each other we will end up with more innovative solutions than we would have by ourselves.
